Luxury Charter Group heads to 2023 Mediterranean Charter Yacht Shows

The first of these Shows LCG will be attending is the 33rd MYBA Charter Show, running April 24 to 27 in the magnificent harbour venue of Marina Port Vell Barcelona, Spain.

The list of luxury charter yachts attending in 2023 is impressive, ranging from 24 to 80m, and includes classic vessels that have undergone recent refits and enhancements, and many 2022 builds, providing us with the first occasion to inspect them.

In addition to inspecting the charter yachts on show, taking down their unique attributes, décor, special features and on board equipment, we will meet the Captains, crews, enjoying their on board hospitality.

The MYBA Superyacht Chefs’ Competition will over the four days, be serving up tantalising menus that convey their specialties and their ability to adapt to guests’ requirements.

Drawing on the ethos of nature, sustainability and ‘upcycling’, this year’s theme is “Foraged Fare”. The talented charter yacht Chefs will rise to the challenge of creating a dinner party using as much foraged fare as they can in a starter course, main course and dessert course. The Chief Steward/esses will display their tablescaping skills in preparing a 5-star rustic dinner party table setting using elements of foraged and upcycled items in their decor.

While some members of our team are currently in Barcelona, others are in Croatia inspecting the diverse and expanding fleet of motorsailers, catamarans, motor yachts and sailing yachts available in the region. Despite the absence of a charter show, Croatia remains in high demand as a luxury yachting destination in the Mediterranean, and spending time here is essential in order to stay up-to-date with the latest luxury yachts and their crews.

LCG has recently welcomed two new brokers to the team, Xenia Bregianni and Kerry Astras, and the next show, the 2023 Mediterranean Yacht Show, known as MEDYS, will be the first time our expanded team of eight will all meet up.

Organised by the Greek Yachting Association and held in the historic port of Nafplion, MEDYS with more than 90 charter yachts is one of the most influential and important events on the annual charter industry calendar.

The Chefs’ Competition is a major part of the MEDYS program, and all will be vying for the honour of claiming top title. This year’s theme is “Zero Waste From the Greek Seas” and participating Chefs will prepare a menu that celebrates the essence of Greece using ingredients sourced from the Greek seas. This year’s judging panel includes two Chefs from 2-Michelin star restaurants in Greece, who will no doubt inspire competitors to bring their best!

Following MEDYS is EMMYS, the East Mediterranean Multihull & Yacht Show which runs from May 4 to 6 on Poros Island in Greece – a picturesque backdrop for these sensational charter yachts available in the Greek Islands.

The 19th edition of EMMYS will focus on multihulls, both power and sail, and their rising popularly in the charter market and feature some of the most popular and regarded brands, including Fontaine Pajot, Sunreef, Lagoon, Aquila and Bali, as well as motor yachts from Azimut, Ferretti, Horizon and Sunseeker.

Again, the Chefs’ Competition is a vital and vibrant part of the EMMYS and this year’s theme will be “Greek Fusion”, a brief which allow Chefs to display their own versions of traditional Greek dishes with a twist, using novel ingredients and techniques drawn from other cultures.

Our final show in the Mediterranean, before Cannes and Monaco later in the year, is TYBA, May 5 to 9 in Turkey, hosted in the town of Göcek – a popular destination in the Mediterranean due to its stunning natural beauty, picturesque marinas and clear turquoise waters. 

This event showcases the charter yachts operating out of Turkey and will feature a variety of vessel types, including locally built Gulets that offer charter guests authentic experiences.

We are looking forward to inspecting a vast range of vessels, from ultra-modern to classic, and attending the seminars held in collaboration with Destination Turkey which will inform brokers about all aspects of chartering in this diverse and appealing region.
